You’ve just crested the hill...the view is amazing. Time to stop, take a drink, and check out the bands. Your radio deploys quickly, but what about your antenna? This is where our AX1 whip really shines: getting you on the air in seconds, from anywhere. Use it HT-style with a hand-held rig; on a picnic table with an AXB1 whip bipod; or with a camera tripod and an AXT1 tripod adapter. 
Using the AX1 with an ATU eliminates tedious length adjustments. Just select a band, tap the antenna tune switch, and go for it. The AX1 is resonant close to 20 meters in one switch position, while the other is resonant between 17 and 15 meters. An ATU can easily achieve a match on all three bands, providing efficient and convenient operation over any terrain. (A wide-range ATU such as those in the KX2 and KX3 transceivers can often provide an adequate match on 12 and 10 meters as well.) 
Whether you use the AX1 as a ‘stealth’ field antenna, for pedestrian mobile, or as a versatile backup, it’ll be ready when you are. 
Those traveling light will appreciate the AX1's ultra-portability: It's the only telescoping whip that disassembles into two 6" (15 cm) pieces. (Three 6" pieces if you include the AXE1 40 m extender.) This allows the whip to fit comfortably in a pocket or in our smallest padded travel case, the CS-40.
The AX1 is the perfect antenna for your KX2 or KX3. Both rigs have optional built-in ATUs that can tune the AX1 on 20, 17, and 15 meters. The settings are stored per band for instant recall.

Resonant Frequencies	20 m (~14 MHz) and 17/15 m (~19 MHz). Resonant frequencies may vary +/- 300 kHz or more due to changes in terrain, body capacitance, and antenna height.
Supplied Radial Wire	13 feet (4.0 m) long. Wire has a pre-installed lug for attachment to the transceiver’s ground screw.
Max. Power	30 Watts. If RFI symptoms are observed, reduce power or move the antenna farther from the transceiver.
Construction	Corrosion-resistant whip and hardware; Lexan outer tube; high-Q inductors wound with 20 AWG, high-temp enamel wire.
