      FAQ

Q: Is the XG50 useful only with the KX3?

A: The XG50 was designed to facilitate the KX3 Temperature Compensation Procedure.  This signal generator acts as the reference with suitable stability to complete the steps.  It removes the need to purchase an expensive, lab-grade signal generator.

Q: If I already have a lab-grade signal generator that meets the stability specifications, can I use it instead of the XG50?

A: Yes.  Elecraft's policy is to produce simple, easy to use test products to add value to your radio and to add to your experiences of owning and operating the radio.
